Quantitative Research
The Quant Research team forms the core of GCA’s research work. Members design and test alpha factors, apply statistical and machine learning methods to predict returns or risks, and conduct backtests to evaluate performance. They also draft professional-style quant reports and collaborate with Developers to implement models into trading systems. This division is ideal for students with strong backgrounds in mathematics, statistics, financial engineering, or data science.
Development & Engineering
The Development & Engineering team builds and maintains GCA’s technical infrastructure. Members design databases, develop backtesting frameworks, and integrate APIs from financial data providers such as Yahoo Finance or Binance. They ensure that research models can run efficiently and scale effectively, providing the backbone for the entire organization’s work. This division is best suited for students in Computer Science, ECE, or Data Science with strong coding and system design skills.
Risk & Portfolio Analyst
Risk & Portfolio Analysts safeguard the stability and reliability of GCA’s strategies. They conduct factor exposure analysis using models such as Fama-French and Barra, calculate key risk metrics like VaR, CVaR, Beta, and volatility, and provide optimization recommendations for portfolio managers. Their work ensures that strategies remain balanced and data-driven. Students with backgrounds in finance, actuarial science, or statistics and strong quantitative skills thrive here.
Financial & Market Analyst
Market Analysts provide the context and insights that guide quantitative modeling. They research macroeconomic indicators and industry trends such as interest rates, oil prices, and technology shifts, then translate these findings into measurable factors. Analysts also prepare concise market reports that serve as inputs for Quant Researchers. Strong analytical thinking, writing ability, and a background in finance, economics, or business are highly valued.
Public Relations
The PR team ensures that GCA’s work is visible and connected to the broader community. Members manage social media accounts, recruitment campaigns, and info sessions, while also building relationships with professors, alumni, and sponsors. Their goal is to enhance GCA’s brand, attract new talent, and grow external partnerships. This division is ideal for students with strong communication, creativity, and networking skills.
